ABOUT!

A self portrait. It features myself; a brown man with black curly hair and glasses. This drawing is framed by a drawing made to resemble the MS Paint UI.

My name is Zed! But online and within my practice I go by OHRADE (pronounced oh·raid)! I am a Narrm-based painter and comic artist. Im currently studying the Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts at RMIT!

Through my practice I explore the convergence of fantasy, everyday life and interpersonal relationships.

While mostly being process driven, my work also seeks to present a narrative. I like to urge the viewer to build a narrative around the world and characters presented in the work. These artworks are snapshots that imply a broader story! Whether one exists or not...

I like making work that is fun and punchy! I often end up incorporating my personal interests and hobbies into my work. Visual aesthetics and iconography from comics, movies and videogames are frequent and at this point impossible to pry from my visual style.

FAQs!

What materials do you use?

I typically work digitally for my illustrative and comic work. I use Medibang and Photoshop. I often paint with oil paints but I really want to get better at gouache!

Are you open for work?

Not at the moment as I am studying. But I still would recomend reaching out as I might have a moment here and there depending on what you are after! I do enjoy making things. Feel free to get in contact with me either through Instagram, Tumblr or the contact form on my "CV/Contact" page! I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible.

What work have you done previously?

Previously I have worked on posters, flyers, album covers and private commissions. Some unpaid work I have been in - collaborative projects such as zines and reanimation projects - have also provided me with valuable experience and skills. I am excited to get back into it as soon as possible.
